The end and the Begining

Well once again it is time to celerbrate a new year coming in... We are just staying home for this wonderful evening... The kids will be with us and we have invited another family over that have 3 kids .. They are getting ready to move out of our neighborhood and they are always here playing with the kids or vice versa so we decided to spend the celebration together... I have made a cheese dip and a cheese ball and smokies and pigs in a blanket for the special event... We even got some sparkeling cider to use to toast the New Year in... So we are excited to stay up and have a grand time tonight....

I am also excited as I dont have to work nights anymore.. I am now working days and am really happy about that... Today went really good and I am so happy that it was a good day...

So when I talk again I guess it will be 2009 a new year and a new begining.....

Merry Christmas.....

I know this is a little late... But wanted to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas... This year was a fun and exciting year for us... We spent it at home this year by ourselfs but had a whole lot of fun... Was tired of the same ol same ol so we decided to do a few things different with food... So instead of the traditional cranberry salad I make I made a fruit salad my mom used to always make and a frog eyed salad... They were both a really big hit... Have already been told have to make more frog eyed salad so Im in the mode of doing that... lol.....

Christmas eve we went to a wonderful Christmas Eve Candle Light service... I really enjoyed that.. I am really enjoying our Church as we are new members of the Church and love it... This Church has given me so much Spirtually... We also went and saw the Georgetown Santas after the Church Service.. We had never been and it was really neat... Im sure it will be a tradition of ours that we will treasure for a life time...

Christmas Morning was different and interesting... Christiana got up at 215 and asked if she could get into her stocking... I was like ummmm no go back to bed its way to early.... Of Course we just got to bed at Midnight so I knew 2 ours of sleep wouldnt of been enough...
So it was 9:30 when they started dragging out of bed to open stockings... I was wowed as the kids are usually up at 5am lol..... SO I got to sleep in... I even took my shower, got totally dressed makeup and all and had a cup of coffee and of course started the turkey before they were ready to open gifts....

I got soo much accomplished yesterday and it was a lot of fun... but I am glad it is over... I love Christmas it is my favorite holiday.. To be able to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ our Lord and savior.. What a special time and something to treasure...

Jonathan asked me some questions this year that was wow where did that come from type things... He was asking why we have Christmas Trees and on those trees we have a star or an angel... He thinks it should have Jesus on it instead as this is the time we celebrate Jesus Birth... I told him I think he had some very valid questions and I think that we need to put this on our list of studies... So I guess we will be doing some major descussions and research soon...

I think we will start back to school the Monday after News Year.. I am ready to start back up... I think the kids are too yeah the break has been nice but we are missing school...

Well I hope you all had a great Christmas and Im sure Ill be back soon....

K12

Well we did it.... We pulled the kids from the K12 program... It wasnt the k12 program itself.. It was more having the the Virtual School issues... It was horible... I hated it the kids hated it... They were wanting my kids to be tested by complete strangers.. My kids dont talk to me on a phone but they got mad when they wouldnt talk to them on the phone... Then they wanted me to take them an hour 1 way to be tested face to face by a complete stranger.... Wasnt going to do it with gas prices where they were.. The principle then decided to threaten me by telling me if I didnt force my kids to do this testing then he was going to suspend them... hmmmmmm that didnt go over to well with me... So I pulled them out... Something else that happened Im not happy about was my baby 13 months old at that time.. Was tested for lead for a routine checkup... Came back with lead in his system... hmmm something the School didnt bother to ever tell me but I finally got an email from k12 3 weeks down the road... 1 of the magnents they sent to the 2nd grade students has a high amt of lead in it... hmmm I have a 2nd grader... Well I guess we know where the lead came from....

So we are back to doing school OUR WAY!!!! and actually having fun with school doing fun things and actually learning... My kis arent being stressed over tests and not learning a thing... They are back to normal and learning and having fun learning again...

School Decsion for this year

Well we have an offical desion this year for school. We are still homeschooling I will never give that up. But with Trenton now in 8th grade and being the football player he is we had to do some major praying and deciding what was best for our family. We had a football team pop up in our face in Manhattan which is an hour and a half away 1 way and with practice being 3 times a week and then games thats a lot of driving. Now that Glen is working nights Thursday, Fri, Sat and Sundays I am like a single Mom just not.... With the Gas prices the trip to Manhattan was not feezible. So we began looking at other options. My best friend has also desided to bring her kids home to get them out of the Public School System due to some complications they were having with the Public School System. Then it came up that Grandma wouldnt be able to watch them everyday all day while Mom and Dad were at work so they asked me. Well I wasnt sure how it would work at first as I already have 6 kids 1 being a baby that I breast feed and he takes a lot of my time. I just didnt want to feel like I was neglecting their kids because my kids would come first. They understood and told me that they were going to do the K12 program ... I had actually looked into it last year but didnt have time to get it all out to get them enrolled... So Glen and I talkied about it and prayed about it and decided that this was our answer at this point and time in our lifes. We decided to give the K12 program a try as they would send us everything and I wouldnt have to try to prepare lessons for 8 children with help of course.... SO I did it.... I sent the paper work in and This morning I got the call they have recieved all my paperwork for my kids to be entered into the k12 program.... The nice thing is that now Trenton can also play football if the school district we live in will allow him to dual enroll so it has all opened up... I am so glad for The answers to prayers. I know sometimes it isnt the answers you want but this has truely turned out I feel for the better at this point anyway... And if it doesnt work we can always do something different next year. My kids are all excited though too as they love doing workbooks and was wanting more....
